The History of the Creation of Cellar Master Graphics

We needed to make our software feel friendly and light whilst not overly overpowering the forms.

Having looked at images available on the internet and discovering the associated cost to use them commercially it was decided another solution had to be found.
We looked at computer graphics packages but although incredibly powerful, we hadn't the ability to use them as a creative tool.
We asked our team if any of their family members might be able to offer creative assistance and it was this that started the creative experience.
Paul Strutt's son Alex generated a graphic in Corel and although not used, it sparked the theme and colour palette.

Henry Catherwood had started water colour painting at the beginning of 1999 and stopped after the birth of his first son in October 2000 but did still have his painting kit in the attic.

It was decided that simple, loose graphics would be best as fine art takes time and requires more skill that Henry had.

Henry spent a few nights experimenting and slowly the minimalist, interpretative graphics started to develop.

The back wash was selected for its harder edges that made manipulating the image easier and it was the only one that didn't look like a tea stain on the packaging.

The other graphics we all created over two days. Henry who normally references the analytical and numericical part of his brain, effectively turned this part off, hoping that something would start to come from his other side, not really sure if he had any arty creative stuff there.


We were astonished at his complete inability to perform any of his normal jobs whilst trying to reference his creative side, a complete man, only able to do one thing at a time.

Below we have now the final list of graphics with the features that they are used with within Cellar Master. See if you can interpret them. A short description is listed at the end of the page. Does your mind work similarly to Henry's (scary for you, if it does) or in fact do you have a different and or better and clean interpretation of the graphics.
